Hello to All!

I'm Darrell (aka piperdoc) and I have owned and shot numerous BP firearms, all percussion, over the years.
The group got my attention when I was searching for information about my Armsport 50 cal Hawken that I put together from a kit in 1980 - 81.
I'm looking to dust it off and get it shooting again.
I ran an endoscope down the barrel and did not see any rust or pitting in the barrel.
The breech plug has a bit of discoloration which I will assess after giving the barrel a good cleaning.
I am also looking at a new in-line muzzleloader with 209 ignition system ... well ... just because I can and I think it would be fun.
Thanks for the site and I'm looking forward to learning and contributing where I can.
Slàinte.
Darrell

Welcome from southeast Oklahoma.
A 30 caliber or so bore brush with a cloth patch wrapped around is what I use to get down into the breech area.
A few turns of the brush usually grabs all that crud down there.
I also have an inexpensive hand held portable steamer which I use occasionally to clean up a barrel. Works great.

Welcome from New England; I still almost exclusively shoot sidelocks.
