It is good to hear that you are using a scope on your muzzleloader. How is the trigger pull o your Traditions rifle. As you search for better accuracy this becomes more important

    Knurling Bullets

Okay Knut long is defined as raising a pattern of points on a round object making it larger in diameter. When you use files for this are you using single cut files with the cuts of the file going opposite directions or double cut files? Another item to consider is that your knurled area is only...

    Has anyone seen these?

I have yet to receive a response from Remington

    Has anyone seen these?

The promotional video stated that the bullets are of a similar design to the shotgun rounds that they produce. I looked into the product yesterday and they are just .50 caliber at this time. I inquired about about a .40 caliber bullet to be used in a .45 caliber muzzle loader. I would prefer to...

    RIP Hershel House

I used to teach high school Metalworking classes, they curriculum included forging. I struggled to find supplemental education videos for my classes before the Internet became what it is today. I happened upon and bought a video featuring Herschel doing basic forging with heat treating. My...

    Processing

I am like most others and process my own deer meat. I do something that nobody else has mentioned. I can some of the less desirable pieces of meat. I use the canned meat for soup, stews and with Hamburger Helper. Another trick that some have mentioned is using a Saw-Z-All to cut through the...

    209X45 Encore & 45 Shooters

I have been using a Hornady 200 grain SST bullet and sabot package. I didn’t get pictures of the powder residue but it was significant

    209X45 Encore & 45 Shooters

I was shooting my 209X45 Encore this afternoon and I am wondering if anyone can help me out. I am using T7 FFg 75 grain weight or 100 grain volume charges and Federal 209 primers. I am swabbing the barrel after each shot and I am finding unburnt powder in the barrel. I keep my shooting in the...

    AR-15 Muzzleloader

I am interested in this project as well. With the weather in Missouri I opted to go with an adjustable stock set up on my T/C rifles.

First hunt in cold weather-practical considerations as to shooting

I enjoy hunting in the colder weather of winter. My input on this is not so much as muzzle loader but battery related. I made bad shot on a deer because my range finder battery died on me. I guess the distance incorrectly and shot low on the deer. This happens again and I won’t shoot at all.

45 caliber with 10mm bullets in sabots

I was looking through some new information sent out by Hornady this morning and I have a question. I have had 100% success with 180 XTP bullets with 75 grains of T7. Has anyone tried the lighter weight bullets in the 10mm line? I am also successful with .22 caliber 60 grain Hornady soft points...

    Whitetail hunting?

I enjoy the Alternative Season as well. It is a great reason to sneak away from your relatives who have worn out their welcome.

    Shot Placement?

I too use the base of the neck for shot placement. In Missouri we are allowed to use center fire cartridges during the firearms season. I use a .223 to anchor deer on my 40 acre plot. During our Alternative Season my .45 caliber muzzle loader works well too. Luckily my neighbors are friendly and...

    It's Kit Time !

It has been my experience that most wood products will only except so much stain before the pours are saturated. On the other hand if you are applying an oil based finish you are on the right track. My 2 cents.

When do your Bucks Shed their Antlers?

I am in central Missouri and I have bucks that are still maintaining rubs. A few weeks ago a friend of mine found a shed antler just a few miles south of me.

What is Your Favorite Modern Inline

I have a T/C Encore 209x45 that I have used for about 20 years now. It shoots about every load accurately. I have used Great Plains bullets, T/C Maxiballs, Powerbelts, but Harvestor Crushed Rib sabots have allowed me to use a variety of 10 mm hunting bullets to get the most out of the firearm.

My dad is excited about the new Antlerless season. Cold weather bothers him more each year. He is planning to harvest two early in the season. PLUS We can harvest more antlerless deer.
