    200 gr 40 cal Hornady

Years ago now spotted a herd of antelope out several hundred yard. Was able to drive, then hunker then crawl until one didn't dare try to get any closer. Ranged at 314 yard was a sleeping pronghorn. One of the Hornady bullets was sent, and we had some of the best eating meat available in all...

    250g Powerbelt 50 Caliber Aerolite

The boy says it will kill deer; there are better bullets available. Me, i was surprised by the strong penetration, after reading all of the disparaging remarks of Powerbelt over the years.

    250g Powerbelt 50 Caliber Aerolite

Our son helped this old shooter catch this bullet. Powder charge is 80 grain Blackhorn. Distnce between rifle and bottles is 25 yard. The bullet split open the first two bottles and was caught by the sixth (last) bottle. VIDEO

    sizing copper bullets ?

It very well may be this shooter is too persnickety, but when sizing bullets they are turned four times; sized four times. This ensures they are quite round, and they also don't spring back. If one uses Fury bullets, it seems they never spring back, and they are easy to size.

    Hornady 325 Grain FTX

OOPS, the bullet is an FTX, not FXT.

    Hornady 325 Grain FTX

The bullet was shot into the carpet, plywood, bottles; magazine stack and was 'caught' by the sixth (last) bottle. Powder charge is 80 grain Blackhorn. Primer is 209A. Rifle is Omega X7. The first three bottles are destroyed. The fourth, and fifth bottle have holes in, and out. Sixth...

Blackhorn 209 by weight is not measuring up to volume line

Wow, that would be great. Much further than i dare shoot with a 1X scope.

Blackhorn 209 by weight is not measuring up to volume line

txhunter58 Yes, this shooter mostly agrees with what you wrote here. However, in spite of that, finds it very easy, and mostly easier to weigh every shot. Weighing loads is easy for me, and because of the accuracy of the measurements, is comforting. Using a 1X scope works for me because of...

    Could this be true?

Yes, i myself have seen a "vapor trail" more than once over the years. It is my understanding it is not really a "vapor" trail as such, but one can indeed see something that looks like the bullet when conditions are just right.

cleaning a new ACCURA MR-X barrel

Yes, there is a reason. It removes the burnt Blackhorn completely with fewer patches than an oil based cleaner.

cleaning a new ACCURA MR-X barrel

To clean my muzzle loaders shooting Blackhorn powder two different solvents are used. First a water-based solvent on a wet patch, then a dry patch. Then a second wet patch, and another dry patch. This removes virtually all the burnt Blackhorn. Then a switch is made to an oil-based...

Woodman Machined Copper Hollow point 40 Caliber 175g Bullet

Myself, i also use a rasp to knurl bullets now and then. It seems to work good. However, since it is done free-hand, i then run the knurled bullets through a sizing die to make them uniform. Can't say whether it is necessary but sizing them makes me feel better about the process.

    Powder measure

The deer antler measure works by one filling the hole one drilled into the antler with the powder one wishes to measure. All/every powder being measured are measured by the same hole. This hole determines the volume of the powder. Hence all powder measured by the drilled antler will have the...
