Over the past few months, I've been shooting the combination of 40gr SR-4759 and a 300gr bullet. I think this combo is a good one and it has shown a lot of consistancy from gun to gun and from bullet to bullet.

Here are some groups with a 300gr Barnes Expander/40gr SR-4759:

Average velocity from two 10ML-IIs with that load is 2047fps. That's more than you'll get with a 5744/300gr load.

...and here is a groups using a 300gr Bonded Shockwave with the 40gr 4759 load:

Last but not least....Kristels 10ML-II really seems to like the 250gr Bonded Shockwave and 36gr N-110...(load was really 36gr, NOT 38gr like I wrote on the target! :? ) Velocity is right AT 2000fps...

ALL these loads of course are in preparation for the upcoming HOG hunt!

Chuck is the 4759 your using out of the metal cans or the plastic?

That's some really consistent shooting there. 8) I believe that powder will be a much better powder then 5744. The increased velocity, and the boys in canada are having No ignition problems at all. I'm pretty excited to shoot it myself.

I hope it's the metal one. 4759 is nice because you can buy it in 1/2lb cans.

Yeah it's the metal cans! The dealer still has a bunch...I better get some more!

Yeah it's been really doing great with 40-42gr and a 300gr bullet.. 42gr shot good the PREVIOUS trip...2166fps too!

If the dealer has more of the cans I would get some extra cans if you like shooting the 4759.
I have shot lbs (in the metal cans with lot number L11211,date E98DE29) and went up to 47.5 grs with a 300 sst, watched a buddie put 7 in a row at 100 yds with this load and the 300 sst.Now all I can find is the new lot in lb plastic jars and according to my chrony it is 100fps and more slower than the old lot number.Haven't got any consistant groups with it yet.I have shot all most 2 lbs of it since Jan 1st,this year.
Was shooting tuesday and getting a little over 2200 fps with the first 2 shots then the third went over 2400. Thought it was my chrony but checked it with a 22/50 and it was right on the money.
Have asked for feed back on what others were getting using the new lot number but haven't gotten any responce so I guess everyone else is using the old lot number.
I don't normally shoot the 300 gr bullets because I prefer the 250 inthe savage, but the target below is at 300 yds using my favorite load of 4759,the one on the bottom left is with 300 xtp,and the one on top is 2 shots with the 250sst,really got lucky with those 2.

I have used that same load for the last 2 years 40 grs 4759 and 250 xtp
real good groups.
