A while ago I was looking through the bullet mold choices on the Accurate mold site looking for a bullet specifically for a 1-48" twist since there are a ton of these barrels available . I came across the 50-385M and thought , I really like the looks of this bullet but any of the online calculators I used showed a shorter bullet would be more ideal. I asked Tom at Accurate to shorten the bullet to .72" with 2 lube grooves and would like it to be 350 grains. The result was the 50-345 M.
I later found out the bullet I was using as a model was Idaholewis's design and I'm eagerly looking forward to his report on it, he has already stated that a friend of his shot a Elk with it .
Well I haven't had a lot of time to play with it but here is 3 shot group at 50 yards using 60 grains of 2F 777 with a 24" New Englander . Also shot about a 2 1/2" group at 100 yards which isn't great, but I need to experiment with it more. The bullet hole directly above the 3 circled was shot after sighting gun in at 100 yards, I wanted to see where how high it would be hitting at 50. Probably wouldn't hurt to invest in a shooting rest, all I'm doing now is resting gun on a piece of firewood and aiming for the center of the paper plate.
