Howdy folks: Two Feathers here:
It's been forever since I was a regular here. Probably 5 years or more, but I'm selling if anyone is interested?
I have a really nice Flintlock Pan Primer for sale. The price is $65.00 shipped in a padded envelope. This one has a forged iron staple for hanging. I never claimed to be a Blacksmith so the staple is “rustic” to say the least, but it has that 17-1800’s look. The primer is made from an Elk antler tine. It has a Cherry cap and a nicely antiqued finish for an old & used appearance. It has a 3 grain charging valve, that’s filled through the body, by unscrewing the knurled cap, then carefully removing the cap, plunger tube and spring. Be careful NOT to lose the spring, I’ve done it. I’ll include a tiny funnel to aid in filling the primer. The funnel does NOT fit perfectly, but it certainly helps. I cannot say exactly how much powder this will hold, but I can tell you that all of my primers WILL hold a minimum of 350 grains of FFFFg. That’s enough for 58 shots at 6 grs. per prime.
According to the valve mfgr., the primer valve was NOT meant to be used for any powder size other than FFFFg.?
Disclaimer: I’m told these primers work fantastic with FFFg. A number of my customers use these regularly with FFFg, without issue. That will make it really nice for you guys who prime with FFFg. so you don’t have to carry 2 different powders. I’m just giving you the valve manufacturer’s warning to avoid future problems.
The entire primer measures 5-1/2” long without the staple. The base cap is approx. 1-1/8” wide X 1-3/4” long. These are ALL approximate measurements with a ruler. It should fit in your shooting bag or hang from your bag strap nicely. The Cherry plug/cap is held on with 8 tiny solid Brass nails.
