The season started Fri. 11/18 ended Sun. I saw a bunch of does and small bucks wandering around. The 1st rut was over before the firearm season started. I hunted all day for three days and only had a 130 9 pt make an appearance. I watched him for 15 minutes feeding in winter wheat from 30 yards to 125 yards and then disappear into draw. The second half of the season opens up on Thurs. 12/1 and goes to Sun. I without a doubt will be there for duration unless I get a 150 buckto pass by. Sunday afternoon I will lower my standard and take a doe for the meat pole. I was getting pretty tired of scoping those deer and saying bang!
I have been shooting 44 gr. of 5744 with a 300 xtp and a hph 24 sabot in my HB. It is shooting well at 125 yards.
