Hi Guys, I haven't been on very much lately, but for good reason. I've been very busy with family and hunting. I just got back from a week long bow hunt in South West Saskatchewan. I was primarily after Mule Deer, but had my eye's open for an opportunity at Antelope if it came available. I did manage to see several Mule deer that were 180+ class deer and even had a golden opportunity at a 175 buck at under 45 yards....but I blew it and shot over his back. Anyway, I was successful on an Antelope though. He's smaller than I would have settled for with my muzzleloader, but I am extremely happy to have taken him with my bowtech Liberty (Go Bowtech!....that was for you Doohan).
Here's a few picks of the hunt and a couple failed stalking attempts. I wish I could have gotten pictures of the bigger deer I saw, but I was too busy wiping the drool.

good buck I flubbed a stalk on

Tell us more about the gopher and how'd you cook it 8)

First, I want to know how you knew I ate it!! (Was it because I go for head shots?)

Here's my recipe:
Gopher Nuggets

~ Gophers, amount depends how hungry you are
~ 1 large onion, chopped
~ couple stalks celery, chopped
~ 1 - 2 carrots, chopped
~ peppercorns
~ water, beer(this is the good part) or chicken stock
~ flour
~ paprika
~ beer( lots of beer)

Clean and quarter Gophers. Add to a large soup pot. Cover with beer.
Add the onion, celery, carrots and peppercorns.
Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer until meat is tender.

Remove meat from pot and cool. Remove bones. Keep the meat in nugget size pieces.
In a bowl, mix some flour and beer together to a "gravy consistency". Add paprika.

Dip the nuggets into the batter and deep fry to a golden brown.

Serve with dipping sauce

Enjoy. :drinkers:
