I use mine as a cheap file and print server. Cost me far less than a network attached store drive. I would get a better wireless card for $30 while your at it if you plan on using it wireless. I got one of these too and i get great wireless speed with it. The inclded wireless dongle it ok if its not too far from the router. Mine is pretty far away and i use it to back up my stuff and share file so speed was important.

The only negative is the video is display port. So if you want to use HDMI you will need a cheap adapter.

Dont forget the display port to HDMI adapter if your monitor does not have a display port connection. Many are either VGA which is limited and HDMI. Mine was super clean inside and outside. The case is very easy to open and most stuff inside is easy to get at too.

I came across these when i saw Micro Center had them. I googled the part# and saw that Amazon had them over $50 cheaper. Plus no tax or shipping. If you want something more modern, look at the PowerSpec brand at MicroCenter. Ive bought 4 of them. All have been great and its all commonly available parts. Nothing is proprietary like Dell/HP/ect.

MicroCenter has nice PowerSpec PCs starting around $550. Way better value than a similar HP or Dell.

Mine arrived and specs were better than advertised.
I5-6600 instead of I5-4590 (faster and newer)
2 terabyte drive instead of 1 terabyte
ProDesk 600 instead of EliteDesk 800 (newer model)
DDR4 memory instead of DDR3 (faster and newer)
The main 256gig harddrive was actually brand new according to my testing software. Only 2hr of run time but it is a off brand drive.

I already got the shared folder and remote access setup. Plus added the WIFI PCIe card. Im not a fan of USB wireless adapters. The wireless card is way faster and has better range.

Many people get a NAS box for network storage. Ive tried several but was never happy with them unless you spend a fortune. Its pretty easy to setup a Win10 system for simple file and printer sharing plus you have an actual PC for less money. A 3 terabyte WD Red Plus NAS hardrive is $60. They are made to run 24/7. So for around $200 thats a total of 5 terabyte of network storage that looks like any other drive in My Computer after mapping the drive/s.

I recently got rid of 20 of those G1 at work, they are a decent machine. Be wary of the G2 models, we've had a lot of power supply issues. The G3 seem to be pretty solid too.

There are a bunch of mini-pc machines on Amazon that are also worth considering, I have a few of the MeLE Quieter versions and just picked up an Awow brand with dual wired connections for a specific need. They are decent low performance devices that use very little power, and take up no space. Most of them come with a windows license key embedded in hardware so easy to activate.
