I've tried the ones with a brass ring too. Didn't care for them. But the Merit adjustable aperture is awesome. Dial it small for best accuracy when there's plenty of light, wider for better field of view, or wide open for better light gathering at the end of the day. Point of impact stays the same.
I also did not care for the fancy front sights with the tiny insertable posts. The idea sounded good, but they proved to be too small for my eyes. Now I use a small diameter fiberoptic bead, and love it. It's small enough for good accuracy, and the light gathering is amazing. Far superior to a black or brass sight.
