Was thinking about heading to the range today to site in the CVA. The winds are about 20mph. Farthest I would be shooting today is probably 50 yards. How much will the 20 mph winds affect me?

Yes.  Depends on direction. A head or tail wind won't affect POI much.  Quartering winds have less affect than cross winds.

I didn't go.. I will wait and go later this week when or if the wind dies down.

I shot my granddaughter's Bobcat .50 cal. today with a quartering wind. A PRB with 40 gr. of 2F would not allow any grouping with the 20 MPH wind. I switched to 45 gr. of 3F and it got much better.

It was a good lesson with muzzleloading season opening on Saturday. I'll trick her by letting her shoot 40 gr. of 2F for perceived recoil and then switch it when we go hunting. 50 yards will be the maximum shot I will allow her to take.

The ONLY WAY to learn how to shoot under windy/gusty conditions...is to SHOOT IN THE WIND!! :D :2 cents:
