The main reason that I like shooting blackhorn is that there isn't as much smoke as the other subs! I can see the reaction of the deer after the shot!Don't know what the fascination with BH is. Yes, it's cleaner. People claim better accuracy.
Once you sight-in, you are only shooting once or maybe twice at game in a sitting. Getting dozens of shots without cleaning is of no benefit here. Accuracy? People get just as good with other propellants. It's time to get off the BH addiction. LOL.
I love it!I’ve gotten so I only shoot Blackhorn to drive all you guys nuts wondering why anyone would shoot Blackhorn.
Hey, I’d be interested in getting some or all, can you pm meI’m selling off the last of my 40 S&W ammo today, since I don’t own a gun in that caliber anymore. I think I have at least 12 canisters of BH209, and since I’ve gone back to shooting T7 and pyrodex, I may sell it too. I could make someone really happy considering current prices.
I was really hoping that that powder in those Firestick things ( I think its T8?) would have been made avail in loose powder form. That would put the damper on this BH 209 BS we have now. Some other powder company needs to get on the "smokeless" black powder wagon. A reasonably priced BH209 substitute would absolutely dominate the BP market.
The MSDS sheet says that it's basically smokeless powder with a filler. It can't be THAT hard to reproduce. I bet it's cheaper than manufacturing real black powder as well, being "cut" with whatever inert filler it is.
If I had a way to test chamber pressure, I would definitely be doing some experiments with slow burning shotgun powder and cream of wheat or something similar.
I think it might actually be BH209?I was really hoping that that powder in those Firestick things ( I think its T8?) would have been made avail in loose powder form. That would put the damper on this BH 209 BS we have now.
No, I'm sure its not BH209 in the FireSticks. I'm pretty sure its T8, but I'm not 100% positive on that.I think it might actually be BH209?
Which is probably part of the reason that less BH209 is available in canisters?
They say that it's triple 8 but who knows what they are actually putting in em!I think it might actually be BH209?

I know what they call it, I also know what it looks like, which is BH209.They say that it's triple 8 but who knows what they are actually putting in em!
So you have actually looked at it, I'm guessing? That's interesting! Does Hodgon make the firesticks?I know what they call it, I also know what it looks like, which is BH209.
I believe Federal makes the Firesticks but I don’t think Federal actually makes any powder? I think the “Triple 8” name makes it pretty clear whose powder it is.So you have actually looked at it, I'm guessing? That's interesting! Does Hodgon make the firesticks?
No, I'm

I made the following video right before I found the SDS sheet for the Firestick. There is a thread on here from a year or two ago where some members (Michigan Muzzy is one) took them apart. Consensus ws that it was BH209 "fines". Think FFFFG.
