Can you sabbot a round ball or should I use a patch
I believe it was called the hardball, by Hornady. A hardened round ball in a sabot. Don't know if they're still available. You can but may need to downsize the ball size slightly. Someone offers a sabot/roundball combo but the maker's name slips my mind right now.
I think I have some 50 cal poly patch it uses a 490 ball if you would like to try them sent me your info and I will mail them to youCan you sabbot a round ball or should I use a patch
Midway still lists them but are discontinued. My question, by Midway or by Hornady?Yep Hornady still makes the Hardball. I only ever see it at Dunhams or small LGS. Looks like they stuff a .440rb into a 44/50 green sabot.
I made the round ballDon't remember the ball size but I remember the sabots were green 20 yrs ago probably...powder, caps, sabots and balls probably didn't cost a $20 all together the good ol days
