Alternative to H4198

80 grains of h322 puts 45 cal 300 grain bullet right at 2800 fps for me shoots one hole groups from 90 degrees to well below 0

Any idea what the pressure is on that load? I’d guess near or exceeding 45k.

I have no idea what the pressure is.that was the builders problem to figure out.its actually the recommended load from him.

Currently shooting 50g of H4198 over 10g of 4227 w/the 195g Barnes bullet. I'm very low on this powder and wondering about Reloader 7 as a sub. Our ML season here in Maine is in Dec so I have to be concerned about ignition. This is the reason for the 10g of 4227,just to be sure. Any suggestions regarding charge weights for 2500 fps would be helpful.

Been shooting 65gn of rl7 with a 300gn dynamo wool wad 215m primer.
Yields 2600ft/sec at 70f bullet to bore.
Have some imr4198 to try out with furry bullets after huntin season let's out.

The recoil on that would ruin my day. Yup they better have a thick shank. I don't even like to go above 35K, it just hammers my messed up shoulder

Yep, I understand, recoil on my arthritic shoulder isn't good..

That is why I put a slip on recoil pad on all my muzzleloaders.2 bad shoulders can,t take the kick back much.

The facts are i have not had much time to enjoy shooting sessions for several years due to my wife's health. Now once weather gets on my side i will get to do a lot of it.
