Hi, this is one of those newbie questions. I have read all the stuff about using a spit patch or dry patch between shots when using Pyrodex. I have also heard of using alcohol. My question is why not use your regular blackpowder cleaning solvent. I have the new CVA cleaning jel that comes in a tube. I used the last time I shot and it seemed to work fine.
But keep in mind I am a rank amateur. I would appreciate your thoughts.

Thanks,
Caplock

The reason I don't is that it contains more moisture than say a spit patch and acohol will evap in shot order. I would be concerned about getting moisture in the breech plug and having to fire a cap or two to clear it. Not sure if I'm right or not but it's the reason I do what I do
