Is that rear tang screw a wood screw or is it a machine screw?
I might have a piece of aluminum that might do that. How wide is the sight base and tang? How long between the rear screw and the forward screw?

Ron, the rear screw is a woodscrew.

Sight base is 1/4" wide.

Center to center holes are 1.25"

Total length of the sight base is 1.75"

Rifle tang is about the same as the sight base in width. Its kind of difficult to tell because its beveled where it goes down into the stock. So it widens out just a fuzz.

I appreciate the help but don't put yourself out any bro. I'll probably be able to come up with something that will work. Its looking as if all I need to do is find the material, whittle it down some and then drill and tap the forward hole. I will need to find a machine screw that is long enough to work. If I'm lucky, there may be wood under where the front hole needs to be. Oh, I will need a longer wood screw for the aft hole.
