Well I bit the bullet...
That Savage 22-250 I've had for a while never HAS shot as good as my Remington VS 22-250. Really, not even CLOSE. SO...I'm not much on selling centerfire actions so I've having this one redone.. Kevin Rahill is going to do this one up right for me(hopefully). Originally..I intended on sending the rifle off to Sharp Shooter Supply since they seem to be one of the Savage action specialist. But after hearing some horror stories concerning turn-around time, I looked elsewhere. Key Rahill comes to me highly recommended so I'm giving him a try.

Here's what the rifle will consist of:
1. New Stockade Gun Stocks "woodchuck" stock, bedded.
2. Montana Rifleman varmint contour barrel chambered for 22-250 Ackley Improved 1 in 8 twist with muzzlebrake.
3. Action tuned/timed and refinished in matte black.
4. Oversided bolt handle installed.
5. Sharp Shooter trigger installed.
6. Large shank recoil lug installed.
7. I can't think if anything else! 8)

I'm expecting the rifle in 4-6 weeks, maybe sooner. The rifle is going to be set up to shoot 65-80gr .224 bullets. Of course I'll report back after shooting! I'm also going to re-scope it. Probably be a Leupold LRT or could even be a Nightforce.

I don't think the woodchucks will have a chance against that combination.

This should be a neat rifle. I'm just wondering why a muzzle brake on a .22-250?

Chuck,

I have some heavy .224s left over from working with a .22/.243 Middlestet I can make you a deal on. I know there is most of a box of RWS 74 grain cone point bullets (good for shooting small deer), not sure what else. Maybe some .228/70 gr Hornadys that were ring-swaged to .224.

Of course recoil is zero issue with this rifle. The reason is basically so you can see the bullets hit the target, whatever that may be.

Jim..
Thanks for the offer but I am really going to concentrate on 75gr and 80gr A-Maxs..if I have to I'll go to a 69gr Match King but I don't think I'll have to.

Big 6x6 dont overlook the berger bullets they shoot lights out in my rem 700 vssf.

Congrats Chuck,

Sounds like this setup will be alot of fun to shoot all day long...

The muzzle brake also makes the rifle look a lot meaner  Kind of like a baby 50 BMG :D
