OK i got all caught up in the inline craze for a decade or so
due to health issues and needing less recoil, i got the old
double triggered TC renegade 50 cal, this weapon likes solid lead.
i just found out the lighter weight rounds are now discontinued.
.50 Caliber 245 Grain Buffalo Ball-ets Black Powder Muzzleloader Bullet Box of 50

i was wondering if these have more or less the same recoil.
as a young man way back in 70's i took bad advice or was the brunt of a joke
at a local shooting club a kind older man told me of times long past and
hunts of old and the load they used, well he loaded my 50cal with what looked like
a flat based hunk of lead that almost gave me drain damage.LOL
The round found its mark down range and after the smoke cleared
it had cut the 2x2 target stake in 1/2 thus the target was just hanging
after the laughing and jokes of that BOY now knows the way we use to hunt
were finished we put out new targets to finish the volley of rounds for the shoot out.

i never knew a 50 cal could kick like that! all i had ever shot back then was PRB.

any how i have rambled far to long, sun is coming up i need to go hunt.
maybe i should just stay with the PRB this season as it has almost no recoil
in my renegade and is a proven deer taker out to 70 yards or so.

There are a lot of things that your renegade will shoot well. But remember the more heavy the projectile the more recoil. But the secret is, heavy projectiles do not need large loads of powder. You can drop the powder charge under the large projectiles, still get good accuracy, and excellent killing power. But I agree, for this season, stick with the roundball and then experiment after season with other things.

Gee, only $21 for 20?

I agree, use PRBs and call it good. You'll get higher velocity, so flatter shooting with a PRB.

Hornady makes .50 Pa Conicals which are a hollow based conical ~240gr, and TOTW had 'em for ~$13 for 50.

excess650, please post link to this online supply. thank you
god bless and have a good holiday

i hav used these before in the past txhunter58, they shoot good for me out to 50-60 yards.
i have open sights in this weapon and my eyes are NOT like they were in my 20's lol.
i think for this season i will just stay with the old PRB, hunt the creek stand and keep my shots
in bow range maybe more out to 40-60 yards for a long shot.
