I'm very much a Barnes fan so I decided to post some of the diameter of several Barnes bullet/sabot dimensions. This will be helpful for people who are trying to find the right fit for their Muzzleloader barrel.

Barnes MZ
1) MZ (0.451" Flat Base)
HPH-12 =0.5040"
Harvester EZ high press = 0.5030"
Orange =0.5015"
Harvester Crushed Rib =0.5005"

Barnes TMZ (0.451" Boat tail)
Yellow (supplied) =0.5055"
Harvestor Yellow Crushed (for BT)=0.5030"

Barnes T-EZ (0.450" Flat Base)
Blue (supplied) =0.5005"
HPH-12 =0.5035"
Harvestor Crushed Rib =0.5000"

Barnes 285 spit fire
Blue (supplied) =0.5005"

PT GOLD 0.451" Flat Base
HPH-12 =0.5040"
Harvestor EZ High Pressure =0.5030"
Harvestor Crushed Rib =0.5010"

I'm new to muzzle loading and would like to see a similar post for 45 cal. barrels.

My calipers must be different. Here's what I wound up with:

Barnes 250gr TMZ

supplied sabot - .507/.508
Harvester yellow CR - .508/.509

260gr Scorpion PT

Harvester black CR - .503/.505
Harvester red CR - .508/.509

I'd like to see someone else's data so I know if my calipers are off.

Hi

Try measuring just the bullet. My TMZ boatail bullets measured right at 0.451"

The harvester yellow crushed rib (for boatail bullets) are a looser fit then the supplied Yellow sabot in all six of my muzzleloaders.

When I measured the bullet/sabot combo's, I used two bullets and a couple sabots...then just averaged the measurements. Anyone else have some calipers to measure some bullets???

Thanks for taking the time and getting this info together! I may try a Barnes out of my Accura in a Sabot

The TEZ measured 0.450" here. The bullet in the blue sabot measures 0.503". The bullet in a crush rib measures 0.501". The bullet in a short black Harvester sabot measures 0.503".

Buglemintoday That palmated elk in your avatar is some different 'eh.

I just measured 3 random bullet/sabots again and they don't vary from my measurements of several months ago. And I'm measuring them across the "meat" of the sabot and I rotate and measure to get a full range of measurements. I did notice the Barnes supplied sabot has an initial snugger fit than the yellow Harvester CR but the CR still maintained a larger overall OD.

Barnges 250gr TMZ - .450, .4505, .4505

w/supllied sabot - .507/.508, .5065/.5075, .5065/.5075

same sequence with Harvester CR - .508/.509, .5075/.509, .508/.5095

My calipers may be off a half or full thousanth, but the Harvester is always larger. If it ever cools down I plan to head to the range.
