Nothing like the real McCoy when making Thanksgiving pies. These have been baked to perfection and are ready to be scooped out and used for pie filling. So much better tasting and texture than the stuff that comes out of a can and looks like something scratched off a diaper.

MrTom, I thought maybe you had gotten “four and twenty blackbirds, baked in a pie!” 😂

My Dad wondered out loud about making a squash pie, one Thanksgiving.

His younger sister immediately started grousing about, making gagging noises, holding her throat as if she were choking, etc. 🙄

Dad told her to cut it out, she’d never know the difference, etc. She said she could tell. Well… “Game On!” 🤠

Dad was never one to shy away from a challenge, and ESPECIALLY never one to shy away from torturing his sister.😂

Dad baked up a couple of squash pies the next year. Of course, his sister didn’t notice.

Dad said, “How do you like your squash pie?” My aunt spit it out, made a big production of how horrible it was, etc.

Might have been more convincing, if she hadn’t been gobbling it down, right before my dad asked. 🤪

Freshly grated nutmeg makes for a good pie! 👍
