Out today, saw about 8-9 deer, mild QDM property. This guy came near about 100-115 yards out. I had time to avoid twigs, rest on edge of box blind. He had half an angle towards me, don’t normally like when they face me.

At the shot he hopped 20 yards, circled, then went down. Not to much ground shrinkage. I was shooting an XTP pistol bullet.

I have one anterless tag left, I’ll do some cleanup around here first.

That’s a mighty fine Buck, congratulations.

My plinker is a Knight Elite 45 cal, 200 grain XTP, crush-rib sabot, 115 volume B209, CCIM primer, Zeiss 3-9 Conquest scope. Yes I know the IL regs.

I’m out again soon, don’t plan to fill anterless tag just yet.

Nice big buck! Nice setup!

I dont think i would be posting in a forum about using an illegal method to harvest a deer. Technically it could even be seen as a forum rules violation but that is somewhat debatable.

I have went to Fury 265 g SPB bullets they shoot lights out in my knight. Even though I have been informed that nobody is going to check my MZ ammo, and one GW even argued that it only had to be a 45, I don't want the hassle. Nor do I want to hear people popping comments about the legality like I am a little school kid.

Nice deer I’m hunting Woodford County nothing moving on the high ground….high hopes for tomorrow

Nice buck! Congrats!

Buddy tagged a larger 10 pointer. I shot a bedded doe walking/hunting my way out. I’m putting gear away now.

Just back from the 2nd period in IL, I wasn’t there for the 1st period. It was a slow start, saw a handful, fewer than years ago. I did have a few requests for deer, should I have any to give away.
On day 2 I shot two anterless while still hunting my way to a stand. Another factor they were in a location for easy recovery with the pickup.

Earlier in the day I shot a coyote that came by. It was the only one I saw, others saw several. The hunting partner bagged one also.
On day 3 I hunted an area I have seldom hunted, no stands, tucked out of the way. The breeze was in my favor, early morning. I was on a higher ridge, watching a low area. I heard a deer come through the creek, got ready. I saw antlers first as it started up the hill, gave a quick evaluation. Once in full view it was about 20 yards away, gun was already up, safety off. Yes it was more a chip shot.

My load was 115 grains of B209, 200 grain Hornady XTP bullet, 45 cal Knight. As with the 2 previous anterless and the coyote, one shot was enough.
