After more hours on the mill to cut the tapered octagon.
The barrel was cut to 21" - it was coming together as something.

The original forend - too long for me; looks out of proportion.

Cut 4" off the forend - looks much better. (Also milled out for 1/2" diameter ramrod - later)

Alex Henry touch on the tip.

Cutting the taper in the stock for the barrel took some time and luck - came out great as I'm glad the original stock had enough wood.
Breech end of Octagon is 1.230" and at the muzzle just under 1".

Tipped the scale much lighter than I expected, but it feels wonderful in one hands.

What sights? I didn't think factory would look right..

Starting rear sight(s).
Bore out to diameter of Knight action.

Turned both sides, then drill & counterbore for Knight action hole spacing.

Why make one when it's not much more time to make 6 out of the same piece.

Fixture to mill rear sights.

After some hand filing - the rear sight was ready. Have no idea on how high/low to make it??

Basic dovetail front sight - again, no idea on how high/low to make it??

What to shoot out of a 1:28 twist?
Had 2 - 58 cal molds, so I just bored one out to fit the 12 bore.

Knowing the 'girth' on bullets goes crazy when the diameter starts increasing, hollow base is rather large on purpose - having no idea what it might weigh.

This bullet weighs just under 700 grains!!!

1st Test Day:
Had the range all to myself (for a while)

Left all the SPG lube on the bullets - bore fit. No wad or anything between the powder and bullet.

1st target. 75gr O.E. blackpowder. Shooting off a make-shift bench as this is an offhand range.

2nd target. 85gr
I'll take this 3 shot group.

Groups are high as I'm holding a 6 o'clock hold on the black bull.
By now, there are a few pistol shooters wanting to get started, so it's ending soon.

Move the target out to 50 yards when the pistol shooters were setting their targets.
Same 85gr load, now I'm a foot or more high.

Obviously, I need a taller front sight... Don't really want to do that (for appearance reasons)> Thinking of putting a 1x scope on.
Not sure what I did to go right a foot! No doubt more range time is needed.

wow, a rifled 12 ga slug gun muzzleloader. Cool Im in a shotgun state, and ran the gamut for slug guns. Now all i use are muzzy. I can even shoot muzzy during shotgun season, so usually do

That's awesome, wish I had a 1/4 of the talent of some fellers on here.

The gun turned out awesome. You sure do great work. And this was not even close to a winter project more like a long weekend.

That sure is a sweet looking rifle! I-28 twist, maybe you can get MMP to make Sabot :D . Next time make one with a slow Rnd Ball twist, then you will have a gun for T-Rex and one for everything else that moves. Awesome project!

Been working on/off on this in an attempt to get this done before hunting season...

Rather large ramrod thimble for a 1/2" diameter ebony rod, compared to a Knight.
