Morning DWB Members:
I am looking for info on a Load for my
W Series SUPER 91 in .410 Caliber?
I appreciate any help.

Steve

My load is 75 grs Triple 7, 3f, home cut wad, and my 338 gr conical cast by Ed Mehlig.
Fired it 3 times at game, drt each time.
All pass thrus, not recovered one yet.
Estimated velocity is 1500 fps.
Thank you for your reply.

~1588 fps for me with the 80 gr 2F Swiss and the 410 NE.

~1565 fps with 80 2F 777 and the 410 NE.
Those are very impressive numbers; approximately 2230 and 2296 FPE from 80 grns of powder. That's 27.9 and 28.7 FPE per grn of powder.

Compare that to my 58 TC which pushes 560 grns at 1350 fps for 2290 FPE with 120 grns of 2fg or RS = 19 FPE per grn. I know Swiss and T7 are more energetic powders but not 50% more energy per grn.

Apparently, to make a lot of power with BP we need to put a lot of weight in front of it in a smaller bore. Doc knew what he was doing.

Yes, quite a difference in the powder to velocity/pressure with the smaller (.40 and .45s) compared to the larger bores (.58).
