For those that live along or near the Mississippi River basin or watershed, be watchful. Minnesota is sending a ton of water south this spring. Flood predictions made earlier this spring are being drowned out already up here and that as a rule doesn't fare well for those south along the bug muddy. Word has it that this season could fall in at #4 all time for flood water heights on the Mississippi here in Minnesota.

The river is still coming up. My guess is that the areas you want to fish are going to see perhaps the fourth, maybe third, highest flood levels recorded. The river and backwaters may not be back to anything resembling normal until late June this year. The north keeps getting snow and rain has been abundant here below the Twin Cities, all of which ends up in the Mississippi and aggravates the flooding problems. Right now Wabasha is really getting nailed.
