I went to my first rattle snake roundup in Oklahoma years ago. Ended up drunk with the locals but fried rattlesnake ain't to shabby if memory serves me correctly.

I have never ate them, never been that hungry yet. Unless they are up around the walking areas that my Mrs. or furbabies maybe in danger i leave them alone. If they are close n where they will cause trouble i get rid of them.

I go by the old saying a good snake is a dead snake. Got a 12 gauge full choke sadle gun that with number 5 or 6’s works wonders. And i agree with Smokepolehall that i aint never been that hungry to eat such a nasty thing.

I went to Primary NCO School at Ft. Carson, back in mid 70s. One of the instructions would take the rattlers, put 'em in the freezer to kill 'em, then make paperweights out of them. Or the really big ones he would put in a big clear sphere of pourable 'plastic'!
