I bought a Knight DISC original with a 22" barrel at an online auction. I know better than to buy a muzzleloader sight unseen used but it was wearing a Leupold Vari-X iii 1.5-5x20 in gloss. I got it for $300 so wasn't concerned about the gun just the scope. When I received it saw that gun used the orange disc's and those would be difficult to source so started looking into the bare primer ignition. Been asking questions about that on this forum. So before I invested in an upgrade I decided to take a loom at the barrel to even see if it's worth it. Pulled the plug and I'm not even sure this has been fired. Absoluted gorgeous rifling and the plug is bright and shiny. The bolt and trigger mechanism was completely covered in brown grease.

Sounds like a good deal. :lewis: I’ve never bought a new knight that was packed with grease? Just be sure to get the trigger mechanism degreased before using. Is the rifle blued or stainless?

Stainless. As soon as I get out of classified jail I will be getting the upgrades for it

Virtually all newer parts will fit the old DISCs. Boyds even sells stocks that fit them. Extreme/Elite parts pretty much all fit them.

Why do you need to wait? You can buy the parts from Lehigh/SSK and the bolt bodies at Sportmans Warehouse.

Adapter IF you go with a FPJ bolt body....Not needed for the bare primer body.

These MIGHT need minor fitting to work in a DISC or old Extreme.

Also the only bolt bodies at sportsman is for the Mountaineer. On another active thread right now are mixed reviews if it is compatible with a disc.

Ive gotten 2 of them and they work in my rifles but it is true they might need a small amount of metal removed to fit older DISCs.

Contact Lehigh. It usually wont be long before they have more adapters. I prefer the FPJ body and the adapters. Its easier for me to load them without a tool.

First I will second GM's post, I have two and they work flawlessly in my older disc and disc extreme. Second and please correct me if I am wrong the older original Disc rifles you had to replace the bolt to convert to bare primer. There is no longitudinal movement in the bolt it was just raise and lower, there was very little back and forth. You need that movement to seat and unseat the primer in the breech plug.

You need to at least replace the bolt body to get the bolt travel - the slot in the bolt body that engages the stop is longer on the RPJ, than the orange disc bolt body. The internals are the same - some need some fitting.

Thats a shame, you could have bought it from Sportsmans for $100 less but you do take the chance. Knight will make the small alteration if you clicked the box for D.I.S.C.

The Lehigh plug would add another $25ish with shipping but you will want that anyway when you wear out the Knight OEM plug.
