Somehow screwed my right bicep up while sleeping Thursday night.

Been doing the bengay thing, here I am at 52 smelling like an old man

Woke up at 4 this morning screaming in pain cause my arm slipped and flopped around....

Cant go shooting or fishing. TBH I dont think I could drive a stick shift safely like this. Sucks...

May need to switch to Tiger Balm ... or bourbon

Get a grip :) yeah its time to get tough as old shoe leather. I got 21 years on you, i let ya know it gets tougher as you go. I certainly hope you get some relief n help. Bad pain does nothing for your daily outlook.

What makes it bad is that Im a devops guy, so werk is all mousing and typing etc

Old scool enough to use just a keyboard even for GUI stuff (alt controls and metakeys ftw!) on my Linux boxes but windows either doesnt have or has different key strokes and do-able things.

Maybe I can get my Linux desktop at work as an ADA accommodation? ;)

Lots of good input here, so far.

A few thoughts, from someone who’s just a hair older… A few years ago (okay, twelve…), I had surgery on my left ACL. My wife had surgery on her right rotator cuff. I was buying a used car w/manual transmission… but we couldn’t drive it home! 😂 I was consider that she could clutch and I could shift from the passenger’s seat… but we thought, “This might not end well!” 🙄

We knew the seller, so we paid for the car, and waited a couple of weeks until my knee was better healed.

When you’re getting in rough shape from ”sleeping wrong,” you know you’re getting old. Be sure you don’t sneeze, lest you “throw your back out!“ …and you think I’m joking… 🤪

I’m fairly certain they make unscented Ben Gay. If not… something similar. I prefer the scented… just like wearing red long johns, it just “feels” warmer! 🤠

I love Tiger Balm, though it’s pricey. And, like Brylcream, “a little dab’ll do ya!” Don’t know if Tiger Balm comes in an unscented version or not, but the regular stuff will open up your sinuses!

Finally… if you start medicating with bourbon… you KNOW you can’t drive, right?!? 🤨

Good luck with getting healed up. Usually stuff started while you were sleeping tends to heal up pretty well…

Hopefully that switch to a working remedy does not involve a doctor's office visit...... which sometimes evolves into a specialist's (orthopedic surgeon) visit.

I am a perfect example of needing specialist time-to-time, for I wear two hip replacements and one knee replacement.

Hi, All us invalids. 2 new hips 2 sets of rotator cuffs. Surgeons vary. Bad l/h hip. Bad r/h rotator. thats the bad one, trying to fit over head light bulbs or hang pictures. OW!! Never mind touching 90 and still driving with a manual box. Don't shoot much though. ***** ***** or words to that effect..OLD DOG..

I’ve had seven orthopedic surgeries and paid a portion of one yacht. Five shoulder surgeries two of which were corrective for techniques used twenty to thirty years ago that actually created bigger problems. So let me ask the OP can you pin point the source of your pain ? Are your sure it’s not your shoulder as shoulder problems usually radiate pain down the arm. Shoulder damage will make a nights sleep almost impossible.

If you’re fighting pain then your body is fighting it and expect your energy levels to drop as you go through this so you need something to mitigate the pain the sooner the better. Unfortunately good opium dens are hard to find anymore so I’d suggest a gel called Voltaren and apply it liberally to the source. The other option is CBD ointments that contains THC or cannabis oils. I realize many think that this is just dope but it’s a known analgesic but you’ll have to go to your local marijuana dispensary for it. Both of these products do work on pain that is not terribly severe. Of course you will need to see an orthopedic but be prepared for the surgery recommendation. These guys make there money in the operating room Good luck from somebody older than you.

Bow hunter here at 64. Had to turn my bow down to it's lowest setting at 60 lbs. Even then, it is a challenge . Shoulders and back are a mess from construction, overhead work , welding and cutting a lot of firewood.
As much as it hurts, try not to loose your range of motion. Very hard to get your range of motion back after shoulder injuries & surgery.
