Tom,
Better get on the horn to the Army and get some chemical warfare specialists to your house. You might need the biological warfare guys too. You just never know what's been in Rifleman's shorts.

Thanks for the reminder.

What would be a good bullet for moose out to 200y?

I'll try this again, if only beacuse my name is in the post.

Perhaps it is better phrased like this: if I was going moose hunting tomorrow with a Savage 10ML-II (sadly I am not) I would shoot a .451 300 gr. Barnes MZ-Expander out of my gun, without question. There are many bullets that would do the job, of course, and dead is dead so I hear. I also don't know where your moose hunt is, or the size-- I've never seen a really small moose, but there is certainly a big diffence between Newfoundland moose and B.C. moose.

The basis is accuracy, in my gun, and positive terminal performance-- that is confidence. There may be better choices for "a gun," and even mine. It is simply that they are not established to my satisfaction yet.

Randy:

I ain't no tough guy! You saw what my shotgun looks like!! I will tell you tho, shooting those 300 gr. Barnes X bullets from the bench was an eye opener! It was a totally different story when I squeezed the trigger on the hog tho! I never noticed the recoil, but the hog sure felt something, if just for a split second. :)

I can see that during my yardwork break tomorrow or Sunday I'll have to break out the chrono and the 300 gr. bullets to see just how fast I'm shooting them. I'll chrono the 44 gr. of 4759 w/250 gr. SST in the 10ML-I while I'm at it too.

After being out in the boat with Rifleman, I'd hate to see what's in those shorts! I thought he would need a roll of toilet paper for the noises that were coming from the stern of the boat. I pity whoever sleeps in the same room with him on the hog hunt!!!

So a gas mask should be standard equipment on this hog hunt? Whoa, thanks for the information! Dang I need to bring two sets!

I really think that at 5 bucks I will send the shorts to the auction winner, now say at 10 I could afford to send it to the designated short snorter :D

Bring your own. It'll not be my fault if you die from asphyxiation.

For those who are unfamiliar with the word asphyxiate:

Main Entry: as?phyx?i?ate
Pronunciation: -sE-"At
Function: verb
Inflected Form(s): -at?ed; -at?ing
transitive senses : to cause asphyxia in; also : to kill or make unconscious by inadequate oxygen, presence of noxious agents, or other obstruction to normal breathing
intransitive senses : to become asphyxiated
- as?phyx?i?a?tion /-"fik-sE-'A-sh&n/ noun

I was fortunate to be upwind while in the boat, so I can't say for sure. But if the noise counts for anything, I don't think the gas mask would help any.

I think it is pretty low to bust on a guy for a medical condition he has no control of.

I guess we are eating out the next two days, since you decided to refer to my wife as a medical condition. Not very smart RW, you know she is a good cook and now you had to go and blow it.

That pretty much covers N120 for the moment.

Anybody besides Eric and Blue Dot so much as ever shot the stuff? :?
