Shot with a Rossi .45 spitting 175 grain Barnes bullets (man those things are awesome) with 80 grains of regular pyrodex pellets.

elkstalkr,
CONGRATULATIONS to your wife, that's a tremendous deer! I would be interested to hear the damage report from that load, and also how far the deer went after the shot. Thanks for sharing the pics.

MO,

She shot him at about 15 yards, right in the neck. He was facing her.

He took about 3 steps and killed over. Have yet to butcher the deer, but it appears the bullet stopped somewhere in his shoulder.

Nice deer

You did well with your wife...both times.

Marrying her and having a wife that hunts. I hope her sister married a taxidermist, she is going to need one.

Here are the pics of the bullet I retrived. It was lodged between his ribs and shoulder on his right side. Apparently the bullet struck his neck, cut his jugular and penetrated to that point.

Bullet looks wonderful. I don't have a scale small enough, but I am guessing 90% weight retention.

Sorry the pics aren't clearer, they were the best I could get.
