Today the Lehigh 260g Xtreme Penetrator was shot through carpet, plywood, and water jugs. The range was 25 yard. The powder charge was 80g Blackhorn.

Fifth jug remains standing

8 megabyte VIDEO, or a One megabyte video.

The bullet went through the first four jugs, and veered off to the right, missing the last two jugs, and just so barely clipping the edge of the phone book. The bullet was never found, however it left behind these four damaged jugs.

Wow, that was the biggest splash I've seen yet from any of your 80 gr. tests.
Find that bullet Ron......... take extra batteries for your flashlight. Roundup some volunteers for help. :p

Ron

That is quite a mess - the first 4 bottles are displaying. Now you know why the military is so interested in that bullet.

Could you tell from your impact on the first bottle do you think you were fairly well centered on the bottle?

If you could find the bullet and it will be down range to right someplace - it may be a lot farther away than you expect unless it ran into something. If you were to find I would almost bet you could clean it up - load it and shoot it again. The brass will not deform near as much as the copper bullet.

This morning this bullet was shot through the carpet, plywood, water jugs one more time. The bullet ended up in the sixth jug.

Here is the video.

And here is the captured bullet standing with a brand new bullet.

So how many times are you going to reload and fire that one? Now that would be an interesting test.
