I used to have one for ice fishing back in New England.
Worked great. Don't know what ever happened to it though.

Didn’t these years ago used to be called like a Johnie or something? I remember my grandpa had one. Had no clue they made new versions. Very cool.

Are those designed to operate in your pocket like a chemical hand warmer? Or do you hold on to it out in the open?

Seems like having something running on lighter fluid in your pocket would be sketchy

Had one many many years ago...I think it was a Zippo too. Worked great.

That's the one I had, forgot about the red pouch. They did work great.

A fishing buddy has one of the electric ones. But he's kind of a puss and uses it when it's still 40 degrees out.

I like the hand warmers because I hate wearing gloves. I’ve got a rechargeable vest and socks too but I’ve never used them.

I agree, they do have an odor. So, not good for deer hunting. Mine had sort of velvet drawstring bag. You placed it into the bag after it was lit. You could put it inside your pocket or a jacket and it would still keep heating.

i wouldn't use it at 40 degrees though .

I had a similar one when I was a kid, using it for my Sunday paper route. Came with the red velvet pouch that has been mentioned.

My son played QB in high school and had two of those hand warmer pouches they wear around their waist. He had some of those Hot Hands hand warmers that he would put inside the zippered section. I have since repurposed one of those hand warmer pouches. Works pretty well and no odor.

My son bought me 2 electric ones 3 yrs ago for Christmas and last year he got me an electric vest. I stay toasty warm. Sometimes too cozy and fall asleep!
