I have a rock sparker in a .45, i am wondering if the .50 cal barrel would also fit my stock? I believe the .45 barrel is a 13/16"
Are y'alls flintlocks ? If so does the .45 & .59 have same size lock ? I am thinking i may want another barrel for mine. Much cheaper than buying another rifle.I have a 45 also , a co worker bought the 50, I think they were the same dia. 1980 something.
If that is the size it won't fit into my .45's stock. Wood is already thinner out front than i like it to be.I found one for sale that stated a 7/8" barrel. 50 cal.
Ah ha there is the info 1985 era. Mine is the 2021, has 13/16" x 28" in lengthJust checked, my 45 Scout, 1985 ish vintage has a .885" x 26" barrel.
You are correct. Well i will just have to find some thing i like in another flintlock. I reckon i would be happy with the one i have , if i can get rid of the hang fireMost barrel makes don't make a 50 smaller than 7/8".
I have been working on this for 11 months now. It was a flint breaker, 1 or 2 shots it broke flints. On avg. 2 or 3 flints to get it to fire. I cleaned it well. I started filing the Frizzen spring, now its not breaking flints but has the 1/4-1/3 hang fire. The sparks now are good & i use Swiss 4 F to prime with. I had drilled the vent hole to 1/16". Stock vent took about 15-18 frizzen strikes to go off. Went through a dz. flints 1st go around with it. I was ready to hang it on the Wall this past Winter as a decoration. I bought it 1st week of last July. Tried to get it to shoot til September. Its sat til i started to fool with it again this March. I will unscrew vent liner & take a look inside.Hang fire?
Good spark?
use 4F priming?
Clear vent hole?
Buy a bore scope and look at the inside.
