250g Powerbelt 50 Caliber Aerolite

Our son helped this old shooter catch this bullet. Powder charge is 80 grain Blackhorn. Distnce between rifle and bottles is 25 yard.

The bullet split open the first two bottles and was caught by the sixth (last) bottle.

What is your consensus on the performance of this bullet?

The boy says it will kill deer; there are better bullets available.

Me, i was surprised by the strong penetration, after reading all of the disparaging remarks of Powerbelt over the years.

Interesting, when scrolling thru the pics, I expected a pancaked bullet, not one that got squished.

I think the Aerolite is a completely different bullet than all the other powerbelts, unless i am mistaken.

I won't use any Powerbelts.

It doesn't impress me much. It seems the powerbelts go from one extreme to the other.... either too soft to handle bone/wet tissue impact and velocity well or like this example and are too hard to expand. I think CVA should get out of the bullet business and focus on gun quality. There are too many bullets available out there that makes CVA's attempt at pigeon holing unreliable bullets looks bad for them.

I stopped using power belts years ago. Tried Barnes and never looked back. 100% better performance on deer.
