My grandpa had a New Worchester Hammerless Damascus 30” barrels 2.5” chambers. The only markings on it besides the company name stamped in both sides, is under the forearm plate as shown in the pic.
I can’t have the thing if it’s made after Jan 1 1899. I’m hoping the Pat. 12’ 91 means Dec 1891. It has a four digit number underneath that which is shown in the pic.
I found some info about the gun & the maker ( The Torkalson Arm Co & they were in business from 1865 to 1940. And they are EL CHEAP-O as can be. I read something about the guns marked “ New Worchester Hammerless “ were made from 1903-1908. Im hoping this gun was pre 1899. I want to put a recoil pad on it, have the barrels sleeved to 20ga 3” mag & have screw in choke tubes installed. To use as a Turkey gun instead of trying to get the old Pedersoli to pattern 4 or 5 shot worth a crap.
If anyone has any more detailed info about this gun, or has a book with the numbers in it to determine when it was made, I’d really appreciate the assist. I’m not sure where else to look so I was hoping someone in here might be into turn of the century or earlier shotguns
