Some herbivores will eat meat in a pinch. Rabbits are somewhat well known for it. I've seen video of snowshoe hares fighting over a carcass in the wild. We used to raise rabbits when I was young and it was not uncommon for the females to eat their first litter if no other meat was available. To prevent this, we would put a dish of raw hamburger in the cage when they were getting ready to give birth. I wasn't sure if it was just because it was their first litter and they didn't understand they were her babies. Rabbits aren't terribly smart. Maybe the blood loss from giving birth induces the craving?
