Chad sent me his shotgun stock as it was basically unfinished, Remington didnt put a clear on it! I did 4 coats of filler/sealer and now I am on coat #4 with Truoil. After this dries good, I will wet sand LIGHTLY with 600 grit and add more coats of truoil. Then I get to have all the fun of dulling out the checkering without hurting the gloss finish on the stock.

Sadly though, this most likely will be my last stock i refinish for a while yet. My nerves has been bothering me lately and stock finishing just works them even harder  This one however is easy to finish and isn't over working me.

Man that is looking good and is going to make the 870 look great. What is it that you use that will make the high gloss? Good work. :D

many many more coats of truoil. I may knock off the extreme gloss though with some oiled 0000 steel wool. Sometimes if you make it to glossy and then leave the checkering dull, it gives it a cheap look but i certainly will show you before i do any changes.

Ok that sounds good. I know what you mean on the extreme gloss and I don't want that look but do want the gloss so I think I know what your thinking it should look like and we can just take a look beforehand.
