I can't find ammo anywhere what's the cheapest option for buying or making 50 cal ammo
Looks like a lot of fun too!! I've been meaning to start.Check out the “Cast Boolits” website.
TONS of basic info there… DOESN’T HAVE TO BE EXPENSIVE!
Cheap Lee mold-$25 (May have underestimated cost- consider used?)
Lee ladle-$10-12 (Big stainless spoon will work, in a pinch)
Thrift store cast iron pot-$5
Coleman stove from Craigslist-$20
Lead from a scrapyard-$1-2/pound (depending upon multiple factors)
Safety glasses/face shield, long sleeves/long pants, boots, gloves are the basics for safety gear. Work outside, with a fan blowing fume away from you.
For the price of a few boxes of bullets, you’ll be well on your way!
Be aware, casting can be addictive…
If making round balls is your thing, you can get started pretty cheaply. The stove and cast iron pan will work. However you will probably want to upgrade quickly after you get started. You can pick up a Lee pot for about $50. It is what I have used for over 30 years.

yeah i want a sprue cutterAluminum Lee molds work good, plus they come with handles, sprue cutter, and are adequate for many - even some who've been shooting for many years. They've always offered a wide assortment.
Those that don't come with a sprue cutter are a pain in the rear to me.
