Just made my first set this afternoon. Have seen them in the $40.00 and up range....how does under $3.00 a set sound ?
Items needed
Two of the coated steel rods that are used to hold up tomato cages, found at any garden center. I picked up a 3 pack of 5 foot ones for $1.99
Two castration bands from a farm supply store....100 pack cost under $2. Think very heavy duty O-rings
Hold the two rods together on the blunt ends and stretch two bands over them. Very strong bands so a extra hand is very helpful. After putting the two bands on rotate one of the rods a total circle. This causes the bands to form a X and are very stable. The other end of the rods have a pointed end that would be better suited to stick in the ground.
If anyone has problems finding the bands you can PM me a snail mail address and I will mail you a half dozen free.
First picture is of the finished product, Second picture shows the castration bands in place.
I used the 5 foot rods as they seem to be a good length when sitting in a chair in a ground blind. Longer are available.
