Yesterday our alfalfa/brome/orchard grass (some places almost five feet high) field behind the house was cut, after we ran out six fawns.
Today I was watching my pet Molly and one of her fawns through the spotting scope at noon when I saw them jump and run. About that time a golden eagle entered into my field of view and went right where the fawn had been. Could not have missed him more than a couple feet. The fawn is three weeks old today.
