Decided to stretch Calico's legs this morning. Bead front and aperture rear sight.
Usual load. 250 grain Hornady XTP in a Harvester crush rib over 70 grains 3f Swiss. 1575 fps chrono'd.
Now there was a breeze, not full value, but enough to cause GRRRS.
BOOM...whack.
Even with the breeze. 3 rounders at 200 were right around 4 1/2 inches, with 23 inches of drop.
That's why 150 is my limit on critters. No off body holds thank you. 8 inches down at 150.
Must say it was fun! Next time I'll bring flags. And patience...

Your powder charge and 8” at 150 & 23” at 200 caught my eye.
Very similar to my charge, but it shoot a 525gr conicals (45cal).

Hmmm...
I wonder the drops on my .50 caliber 400 grain Lyman ( Hornady) Plains bullet. Same 70 grain charge, 1350 fps.
Calico is... rather light for caliber. Recoil gets my shoulder blades touching. But accuracy is MOST impressive. Like 10 rounds in 2 & 1/2 inches at 100. LOVE the 1-38 twist!
