One of the dilemmas with your problem is if a deer steps out in front of you that you do want to shoot before you resolve your problem. I just know I really don't like the idea of wounding an animal that will then have to suffer. Double lung broadside right through the boiler room. Over quickly no suffering. If you resist the temptation to shoot even though it's a great trophy you will be a better person for it. You will be glad later knowing you did the right thing. Hunting isn't only about harvesting game. It's also about great memories. Hang in there and keep the faith knowing you can fix your problem.
