Getting the 50 tc hawkens shooting.

Well I ended up finding some pyrodex select and rs. I have some maxi ball and some lyman plains bullets to try out and some over powder wads. Wishing I could find a peep setup for it off the bat but havent been able to find one in stock (lyman 57 or a Williams fp)
What's everyone starting at with conicals? I used to shoot 80 gr of pyrodex p through my old 54 hawkens. Never had a 50 other than my encore pro hunter.
Hopefully I can get it shooting before doe season and late season here in MO. Only have a couple weeks till regular rifle season and would rather get a peep setup first so I'm.not setting it up constantly burning up what little powder and bullets I've been able to locate so far! Lol

That 80 grain load should be about right. You might have to fudge it up or down some.

I’m shooting 70 grain by weight of RS in mine with a Green Mountain barrel.

Seems like a lot of rifles like about 80 grains + or - a few.
