Tell us a little about your creation FG. Length, materials used? Planning on a custom sheath to house it?
 
Marty, overall length is 8", cutting edge 4 1/4". I forged it from a blower shaft from a detroit diesel.

That's really cool you forge your own skinners. What did you use for a handle? Doesn't look like wood.
 
Maple. Once everything is ready, i burn the wood with a torch, buff it with steel wool then rub linseed oil into the wood while its still hot. I like my handles with a little texture so they are not slippery.
 
I was wondering too about the handle. I thought it might be synthetic at first given the uniform texture. Turned out great.
 
Great craftsmanship, I bought a couple old files to make some as well . Great job and enjoy that skinner !
 
Broke her in yesterday! Love the round nose design, didnt cut the hide once!
