Got one after seeing idaholewis' experience with his and I agree, with the angled mirror, clarity is simply outstanding. Without it, clarity and image suck badly. Clarity is actually worse than my $12 cheapie. No focus at all.

Cheapy bore cam,

Teslong bore scope ( I realize these are not from the same section of the bore, but the teslong would not focus to provide a clear image as the pic above )

Add the mirror for a side view angle and this is where the camera shines! Without the mirror, you're better off with the cheapie ebay cameras IMO.

Also, because the camera is so tiny, As you push it down the bore, the further you go, the more sag you get and it ends up riding on the lower wall of the barrel, making it hard to see the center ( example: focusing on breech plug channel ) you'll never get it in focus as it is. If you dont mind using the mirror for the side angle picture view, its a great camera. Without it, I wouldn't recommend it. For the straight forward pictures that I need, this camera was a waste of $50 and in the end, I still have to push a cotton ball down the bore in order for image to show up clear enough to see that its an actual rifle bore.

I had a bore scope but lost it when we moved. Got any brand/price recommendations for the poor masses? I really need a decent, inexpensive one again.

A little mod to my bore camera. Because the camera is so tiny, it was super hard to get a good focus straight in because the camera would be at the bottom rather than in the center where it could do its thing and show me what I wanted to look at. I robbed a gas check off a .45cal powerbelt aerotip and put it over the camera, installed the lock ring and then and finally got some decent CENTER bore shots. I do have to use a cotton ball to hell reflect light back, but that's ok. With the side mirror installed, this new centering piece really helps improve things!
