Just received my new cva accura from muzzle-loaders.com . I am new to shooting muzzleloader and I had a ton of questions on what would be best for my whitetail hunts. They were super knowledgeable and patient with me when helping me decide what was best for my needs. I wanted to recommend them to anyone else that maybe new like me.

I love my Accura MR-X 50 Cal. I have the same one you have. I've had it for about a year now. I love CVA, but Powerbelts, not so much. Fury has a great 50 cal Universal muzzleloader bullet. He gives the option of buying one's specifically sized for the Accura barrel .4995.

I haven't had a chance to shoot these 50's yet, but I've shot loads of the 45's through my Paramount htr. And they are really accurate.

Welcome, keep us posted on how these bullets and loadings shoot
Thanks, I finally made it to the range Tuesday. Unfortunately I didn't differentiate which bullet hit where. I thought of doing so too late.

I did notice that the above mentioned bullet left extreme fouling after each shot, so much so that I thought their was an obstruction in the barrel after shooting, like maybe the Perma wad came out inside the barrel, but nope. It just left literally half my barrel completely blocked by the BH 209 residue.

I'm planning on opening a new thread on accuracy issues with my CVA accura and Paramount htr. Here's a quick pic of one of my targets.

Can you get bore pics next time that happens?
It usually looks bad, in my bores, but its never as bad as it looks when i wipe it out.

I was planning on getting one of those inexpensive bore scopes. always seemed to put it off, though. Maybe this would be a good reason to get one.

Yeh, after I run a few patches through it, it doesn't seem too bad to me either. I'm thinking these CVA rifles would shoot much better after a quick run through of a a lightly treated Windex with vinegar patch after each shot.

I kept my breech plugs dunked in Windex with vinegar solution on my way home from the range. It took less than 10 q-tips and water from the sink to make them look brand new.

You’re shooting BH209 forget about the windex and vinegar. HOPPES is the best thing you can use. BH209 is not chemically close to other black powder products. You’re modern now gotta rethink things.

Don't get me wrong, I've been using hoppes #9 and the CVA liquid bath for my breech plugs, firing pin, and firing pin retainer, and a little Birchwood casey gun oil, and it's all worked pretty good at keeping my muzzleloaders clean and rust free, but after I read here about using Windex with vinegar, i thought i'd give it a try with my new breech plug and all the parts before mentioned and it worked just fine, only I didn't have to do as much scrubbing as I did with hoppies.

I don't pretend to be an expert. I'm still really new at Muzzleloading, but the only warnings i recall reading regarding BH209 clean up, or main warning, is not to use soapy water, like you would with other BP alternatives, otherwise it'd clump up on you.
