Hi All,

I've already posted a few times regarding some black powder pistols I have. I'm admittedly not much of a muzzleloader expert - but now that I'm here it's been fun to see hunting pictures. I may need to get an inline rifle and start seeing what I can do to make the most of the muzzleloader seasons here.

Welcome from Indiana.Lived in Laramie when I got out of the Marines and lived in Lander back in2011 for a number of years. Now I got old and bought a house but I sure do miss it out there.

Could you give us the muzzle loader seasons in Wyo ? Thanx

Welcome from the Oregon Territory!

Many years of knowledge and experience are among our ranks.

We go through Wyoming traveling to and from North Carolina. Stopped at Fort Bridger last year. Hopeful to see Fort Laramie next time.

Thanks all! After doing some research, it looks like Wyoming has a muzzleloader season but it's for Pronghorn only. I've got my work cut out for me, I love hunting pronghorn but they're a challenge for me just with a rifle....

Elk area 91 Jan 1st-31st...Deer area 98 Oct 15-20th...Ant areas 50 Sept 1-15th, area 99 Sept 1-Oct 31st. , Area 107 Aug 20-Sept 9th ..most are either sex but good luck with your tag draw and landowner permission. I just hunt during reg rifle seasons with my underhammer muzzies. Wyoming has so many areas they almost manage ranch by ranch. Wyo doesn't seem interested in manageable muzzle loading seasons but if you pay an addt'l $15.00 for archery over your drawn tag (or general for residents) it converts to a rifle permit at the close of Archery season. That's why many who travel here hunt the last week of bow and then the first week of rifle seasons. I'm sure I left myself open for debate as the laws and prices have been changing every year. Denying corner hopping to access public land has isolated thousands of acres from the tax paying public and lines the pockets of many ranches. Has got to be addressed !! On state owned land that is leased for grazing you can hunt, fish and access for recreation but for me to trap I must acquire written permission from the lease holder, difficult at best. Some have asked for total access control on state lands they have leased expanding their for profit hunting and fishing for a dime on the dollar. and denying our citizen taxpaying rights for access. Hopefully this will never happen here in one of the greatest FREE states in America. At least as of yet our big game herds have not been decimated by the emotionally founded wolf reintroduction, though the Yellowstone herds have been affected. While the studies drag on many states have suffered severely. Please do not label this as political! Many thanx...Trader

Welcome

Does Wyoming have a dedicated MZ season?????
only those small areas I listed. Alot of it on private. NO statewide or large area dedicated muzzie seasons. I believe like many here do the game is managed for the money not for hunting, recreation or sustainability . Another "Top Heavy" gv't organization...even some retired Game Wardens agree, too many people in the office and not enough in the field. . Trader

Howdy Jack. Where in WY are you right now?
Left Alpine/Starr Valley/Greys River area today and drove to Salt Lake.
Started trip by flying to Denver to visit family. Drove to Cheyenne, Douglas, Casper, Cody, Yellowstone, Tetons, Jackson, Alpine to Salt Lake. Will head back towards Denver thru the moutains tomorrow and fly back east Saturday evening.
Great time to be out here. Missed all the crowds and saw lots of wildlife.

Welcome to the forum mate.

When I decided I wanted to hunt the states I ended up deciding on WY because it was easy to manage for an international in terms of building points. My second option was Montana but it didn't have a muzzleloader season...at the time.

5 points in for WY this year, still don't know when I will use them. Was really hoping they'd create a traditional muzzleloader season following on from MT. I hunt with a flintlock anyway here where we have no weapon restrictions so wouldn't bother me going to a dedicated season for it. At least it would level the competition!
