This will be my first fall hunting with a muzzleloader, and I'll be in north-central Colorado chasing elk. By some miracle, I managed to sight my ML in to two inch groups at 100yds, using a Rem 700ml, Hornady GP 410gr, and 120gr of pyrodex. The next question is, is it an ethical shot into the boiler room at 100 yards with this sort of a set-up - will the downrange energy be enough to put him on his back? My guess is yes, but would hate to try to knock down a giant with a pea-shooter. No comments on the 700ml, please. I'm a Remington man and shoot very comfortably with the 700 in general. Thanks, Nick

I think that load has plenty of horsepower to kill cleanly at 100 yds.
