question on scopes

Hi guys

im new to hight power rifles and high power scopes

i have a 1.5-5 on my slug gun and my 2 ML have a 2-7 and a 3-9

im building a .223 on my encore for a fun gun

what is best power ranges

6-18 or 4.5-14


im also curious is bigger always better

It depends on what you're going to do with the gun. If you plan on doing a lot of long range varmint shooting, go with the highest magnifiication you can get. In my case I have a 6-24 on my 22-250. I shoot lots of gophers at 200 + yds. It also works great at the range.

I agree! But for MOST uses..a good 4.5-14 or 4-16 would be hard to beat and would do most things.

I agree completely. Only using my scope as an example of what I have. Another is my Savage 10ML II. There I've got a 4 - 12.
