Been shooting the 265 gr Fury STB for a few seasons now and finally recovered one this morning. The powder load was 110 gr BV of Blackhorn. The shot was about 40 yards, quartering towards me. Aimed for the base of the neck where it met the forward shoulder. The shot ended up more into the shoulder than what I wanted and pretty much blew it out. The bullet continued thru the chest cavity, destroying both lungs and stopping just under the skin on the off side. Recovered it while skinning him out during processing. Expansion was pretty impressive....right at an inch. After blowing thru shoulder bone and destroying both lungs, the 265 gr STB retained 211 gr. This bullet has always performed well out of my Ultra-lite but it's cool to finally recover one and get a good idea of how they hold up.

I have experienced similar results with that bullet. Believe it or not your description of the shot and the bullet recovery sounds identical to the one and only time I recovered my STB! Even more unbelievable my recovered STB weighed 212 gr!

Same experience last year with the STB on an 8 point. Through the heart and opposite shoulder, lodging under the skin on the far side, same 110 load from custom Omega.
