What do they go for over there? The going rate here is $350-$500.

A guy in France or Belgium got one for $225 and said that's all they can get there. Wish I could import some from there. (Maybe he was talking euros though.)

Is it the shorter 5.5" version or the 7.5" version? Adjustable sights or fixed? 

I;m not sure how it would work out for you, but you can contact Ruger for an old model .45 Blackhawk from sight free of charge if you intend on shooting bullets instead of ball.

There's also a company in TX that sells aftermarket cylinders that hold 5-10 grns more powder than factory. They are called ClassicBallistix if you're interested.

It's the blue 7.5" version with adjustable sights.

I will most certainly look into that cylinder with increased powder capacity rodwha....

Spit, I have one of those ClassicBallistx cylinders and the tolerances are much better than Ruger factory cylinders.  I can force 35 gr. of 3F and a 255 gr. cast SWC bullet into a chamber. I could probably get another 3-4 gr. in if I eliminated the thin wad I use between powder and bullet.

Bob i'll use RB ...that way I can cram a few more grains of powder in there

You'll be able to get over 40 in a ClassicBallistx but less in the Ruger cylinder.

If one is interested in match accuracy for target shooting gatherings rather than max velocity/energy, measure 18 grains of Swiss or Scheutzen (German) black powder, add cream of wheat up to a little less than 1/4" below cylinder mouth, then load the .457 RB, then axle grease on top of the ball.

I read a lot about maximum velocity/energy and max loads here on the forum, and its worth doing, especially for taking game. I just wanted to show performance on the "other side of the coin".

You might not when you see how it bangs up your finger. I never could shoot that style of trigger guard. I have sort of big paws though.

But I love the way it looks, and figured if I ever bought a Dragoon I'd get the 1st or 2nd model so as to have that trigger guard. However, I do not see a need for one as I'd much prefer a Walker.

Carry and fire a Walker for any length of time, and you'll discover the irresistible charm of the Dragoon. Compared to the ROA, you're still gonna be able to stuff more powder into the Dragoon, even though best accuracy with lighter loads still gives you plenty of punch.
